Hawk Addams is a 22-year-old dog living in Santa Cruz, California with his boyfriend JJ.

His earliest memories were spent in the water. Growing up near the beach, his entire childhood was spend at the beach with his two sisters. He joined his school's swim team and by his junior year of high school, he was the captain. Hawk was always charming and popular, and he spent his time in high school with his girlfriend Sydney Morrieseau as the favorite couple of his school. Hawk was just left of popular -- captain of the swim team, fun, nice, and hot, but also stable (unlike the people at the very top who were constantly dealing with drama). He has always had a more feminine side that has made him popular with girls, from his music taste and painting his nails to his more caring nature.

Hawk attended a year at the University of California, Santa Cruz where he studied Marine Biology and played on the swim team. He kept dating Sydney, who also attended UCSC, until her sudden passing which left him adrift. He dropped out of college and fell into an all-consuming depression in a hometown where all of his other friends left.

Eventually, he decided to move to New York City and live with his tech-wiz cousin Keoni to get away from the palce where it all happened. Unfortunately, he had to give up surfing to do this. He worked at a construction site and continued swimming at an indoor pool. There, he met JJ Hartford.

As the middle brothers between two sisters who had both been through losses, and as two lonely people, Hawk and JJ became close friends quickly. Soon, Hawk began to find himself attracted to his best friend.

Hawk never perceived himself as gay or being attracted to men before meeting JJ. He had a great (albiet standard) sex life with Sydney for all five years that they dated and never had sex with anyone else. He was constantly in environments with his teammates, whether that be at parties or in the locker room, where he could have found himself attracted to other men, but he wasn't.
